Lloyd Osbourne, stepson and writing partner of the famous Scots author, narrates the tales and assists in the sleuthing. Written by former Hilo resident, Joseph Theroux, THE DEVIL'S THROAT explores the death of renowned volcano painter Jules Tavernier. THE WHITE KAHUNA investigates the theft of the crown jewels.
Long-time history writer Joseph Theroux lived in Hilo for several decades and is an authority on the history of Hawaii. His novels are peopled with actual historical characters and events of the time.
Theroux has published three novels, The Devil’s Throat, The White Kahuna and Black Coconuts, Brown Magic (Dial, Doubleday). He has also published fiction and historical articles in Pacific Islands Monthly, New Pacific, Hawaii, Honolulu, Spirit of Aloha, Historic Nantucket, The Hawaiian Journal of History and The Journal of Pacific History. He has lived in Samoa, Hawaii and Cape Cod.
