Celebrate the end of summer with a fun exploration of a variety of art mediums! Students will learn to integrate collage, watercolors, acrylic, and more to create uniquely designed pieces. Students can choose from a variety of projects, including tile coasters, garden tiles, canvas, or back-to-school book covers!
All materials will be provided, however students may bring images of their own that they would like to use (magazines, photos, drawings, etc.).

Tween/Teen Art: Journaling
For Children 12 to 15 
June 10-21,  Mon, Wed, and Fri, 3:00 - 5:00 pm
What are you doing this summer? Create your own art journal to record your thoughts, feelings, and experiences through a combination of words and art. Explore a variety of techniques to create images of your life, experimenting with sketching, color, and design. Tween/Teen Art: Handmade Books is highly recommended prior to taking this class, or students should provide their own blank journal. A range of supplies and mediums will be available for use in class, but students will need their own basic supplies for working on their journals at home.  Cost $115.

Horseplay Equestrian Center
Now adding both weekdays and weekends.
Starting with summer break (and currently for home schoolers) sessions are planned for private and group lessons 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These will be grouped by age (8 and up) and ability. Additional sessions for younger children in small groups will be scheduled throughout the summer. 
Regular camp sessions will begin with a 5-day camp June 24th, followed by  a 3-day camp July 1. Additional camps are planned through July. Several are limited to 8 children, with a maximum of 12.
Horseplay is pleased to introduce Ceara Parks to our team for both lessons and summer camp.  (She will also cover regular students for Melissa Plemmons who is away for 2 weeks in June.)

The Kohala Center's Ōhāhā High School AgriCULTURE Program 
Hawai‘i Island high school students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply for The Center's one-week summer and intersession programs that help participants deepen kinship with ‘āina and local agriculture through ‘ike that will also help them flourish in life. Participants receive ‘ike kūpuna (the knowledge of elders) to become mahiʻai (farmers), solidify foundations of Hawaiian identity, deepen kinship with ‘āina and Hawaiian wisdom, learn about sustainable agricultural practices, and explore career pathways. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a VISA gift card valued up to $125. Most days begin and end at The Center's demonstration farm in Honoka‘a; free shuttle service from/to Pāpa‘ikou and Laupāhoehoe is available.
